It’s me. Hauwa.

I know the first question on your mind is “Hauwa, where exactly have you been? And why have we not gotten any letter?”

Wo, life has been hard jare. Someone cannot even drink water drop cup in this Nigeria again. Everything is just expensive anyhow.

When 2022 started, I was the first person that carried my big head to Whatsapp status to type;

“2022 is my year! I’m going to level up! I’m going to prove my enemies wrong. I’m going to hold life by the neck. 2022 is the year I move out of Odogunyan!”. 

I even joined a Whatsapp group for Odogunyan people that want to step up their game in 2022. Na me dem first remove from the group because na me no serious pass. And till now, I’ve still not packed out of Odogunyan. Yesterday, I still went to beg them not to cut our light. 

And if I said I didn’t know where all these problems started from, I’d be lying.

It all started when I soaked one Garri in January around 12pm (honestly, I think it’s the devil that pushed me). I wanted to eat before I officially started working on myself. I poured it inside basia and put water, but because Nepa had been playing with our light, the pure water I used to soak it was already hot. 

As soon as I poured the water inside the Garri, it was already turning to Eba so I quickly rushed it. Then, I spread mat on our verandah (because it is kuku my daddy that has the house) and slept there like someone that didn’t have sense.

When I woke up around 8pm, I was first confused. You know when you fall asleep in the day but wake up at night and your brain is still booting and wondering why it’s dark?

Yes, that was me. I later found out those unfortunate Nepa people still came back to cut our light. Wo, I’m just frustrated.

And let’s be honest, the real reason I wanted to work on myself after that Garri was because they broke my heart a few months before. I wanted to put my anger to productive use and show the man that broke my heart that I could do better without him! That I could hustle for myself and be an independent queen!

But from that time till now, I’m owing like 7 people money. 

Queen don dey owe and nobody is toasting me. Even till now that I am writing this newsletter, nobody has said come and take shawarma money o. Except for one very nice boy in my DM. I think I shall ask him for the money tomorrow.

This morning, I asked the guy for Shawarma money. He chase me commot for DM. E mi naaa??? A whole me???

Anyway, they say, when there is life there is hope. Make I use that one hold body before I go and put another Garri inside water.
